A documentary project completed in 2004, as part of my Masters Degree in Media Design and Technology at the School of Creative Media. The subject of this work was Marc Cuthbert, a Hong Kong-based sailor and adventurer, who in 1997 sailed a traditional Chinese junk from Hong Kong to London. Since that voyage, he acquired a run-down 76 ft brigantine and an 88 ft racing catamaran—and lost the Chinese junk to a violent storm in the Bay of Bengal.
The documentary follows Marc as he grapples with the challenges of restoring boats, and indulging his passion for sailing. The work later went on to receive First Prize [Documentary] in the Beijing International Student Film Festival in May, 2004.
