I’m a Pro, an ExpressionEngine Pro
I recently became a member of the ExpressionEngine Pro Network. The ExpressionEngine Pro Network (or Professionals Network) is an online directory and guide to the best ExpressionEngine web developers around the world. Supported by EllisLab, the developers of the ExpressionEngine web publishing platform, the Pro Network gives clients looking to develop a new website access to a list of some of the best, brightest and most creative web designers and developers around.
Getting into the ExpressionEngine Pro Network is not easy. You have to have developed and launched at least seven websites using ExpressionEngine, and you need to satisfy EllisLab that you can develop websites to modern HTML/CSS standards, that is, websites that render correctly in all modern browsers (and these days, that usually includes iPhone and iPod browsers).
I’ve been building websites in ExpressionEngine for almost 2 years now, and I’ve done some pretty big sites with it, such as this one, and this one.
As far as I know, I’m the only ExpressionEngine Pro Network developer in Hong Kong, so right now I feel a bit of a pioneer! But I’m sure that will change as ExpressionEngine grows in popularity – and clearly it will.
Why do I say that? Because it’s probably the most full featured, flexible, and cost-effective web publishing platform out there today. ExpressionEngine runs on the same foundations as many open source web publishing CMS platforms, such as Joomla!, Drupal and WordPress (that is, PHP and MySQL). However, because it’s a paid publishing platform, it has a dedicated development team behind it who are constantly working to improve the product, and are able to fix any bugs or security flaws that become apparent almost immediately. In addition, there is a strong and growing developer community working to provide a whole range of specialized add-ons and options that further enhance the core product.
The advantages of using ExpressionEngine are worthy of a separate blog post (coming soon!), but suffice to say, if you’re looking for a website solution that gives you complete control over your content, and can develop and scale up as your business grows, look no further than ExpressionEngine – and me of course!
